I’m responsible for:
I am a Lay Member on the Governing Body and I have responsibility for audit and financial management. I chair the CCG’s Audit Risk and Scrutiny Committee. My role is to provide a strategic and independent view of the work of the CCG external to the day to day running of the organisation.
My career began in:
I am a qualified accountant with 25 years’ experience in the public sector. I have worked in a further education college and a university. My most recent role was at the Equality and Human Rights Commission and prior to that a predecessor body the Equal Opportunities Commission.
I like coming to work/my role because:
I am firmly committed to the public sector and its values. This role as a non-executive in the NHS allows me to use my skills and experience to help make a positive difference to people’s lives. I have worked in the equalities sector for a good portion of my career and I know that health inequalities have a major impact on life chances and contribute to failure to achieve potential. This role enables me to contribute to the work of an organisation that is making a real steps to removing health inequalities.
Outside of work I:
I spend time walking my two greyhound dogs. I love all sorts of needlecrafts; although crochet is one that I have failed to master. I like to listen to prog rock both old and new and read widely.
